sat afternoon

OK I haven't been playing as much as I should yeah I'm lazy. Dropping 15 BIs at the 6.50s sucked badly. Today though I played 2 sets of 12 and made up the 15 buy ins. Was HU in 6 of the 12 and won 4, cashed 7. I signed up on parttimepoker.com and doing some micro stakes to get a rep built up over there. 1st one was 10 11 non turbo SNGs and I was up $70. Next was 10 6.50s and I lost 4 races all in, and AQ to A9 HU for all the chips and finished down a couple BIs. In the middle of another 10 11 non turbo run right now.

I'm catching a lot of shit about saying I thought the 6.50s could be beat for 25% ROI. I mean everyone thinks I'm a complete moron about it. Maybe I am idk. My current run is still 22% over 225 games including a -15 swing. And sharkscope has me at over 400 games and 28%. I do think 20% is attainable. I'm not saying everyone can get there but I think the best players can get there. obv if you're that good you should probably move up before getting a sample big enough to prove it though. I do think non turbos it would be possible at the 5.50s though.

This is the 1st month I've really played a lot of SNGs since the PXF leaderboard came out
and I'm at the top of the of the high volume board. I was leading it for a while until the downswing hit. At the moment they list me at like 6th or 7th but after my run today I'm sitting in 2nd 2% behind the leader. Depending on how I do in the 11s today whether I make it in the top 2. I'd have to run really well to knock him out of 1st unless he plays more today and doesn't do well.

Well I didn't think I did as well this set of 10 in the 11s as I did last time. I lost several 3 outters, I lost boat over boat. I did win a few 3 outters late as well so I'm not complaining. But I cashed 5, won 3 and took a 2nd and 3rd. The 2nd stings cause I was up 3:1 on the guy who was a rack HU. I may have a shot at 1st now on the leaderboard as well. Its going to be close.

back from my week off

I hadn't planned on taking a week off but somehow I did. Just got busy over the weekend and beginning of this week. 1st set of 6.50s today went well +40. Next set I bubble 4 and cash 2 so I was break even on the day. Couple of loose calls by PXF guys who wanted to argue that they were correct and had no idea what my range or their ranges should have been. Next set was horrible as well. Classic one was I shove A4 called by A6. Flop comes giving me a 4 and a flush draw. I turn the flush and he rivers a straight flush. Then on the bubble I get A8 v/s J7 river 7 and I bubble. 3 handed AT < A8. Bubble of another donk limps 4BB in the SB and I shove in the BB he had QQ. So I cashed 2 games and I'm down probably close to 10 more BIs.

I've run really bad since hitting the 100 game mark at the 6.50s. Think I'm currently on a 12 BI downswing over my last 80 games. I signed up on parttimepoker.com cause some PXF guys were talking about it. Seems to be the new neverbeg.com. I thought about trying to get a stake or a heeb going there. Maybe start out at the 27Ts for a couple hundred games or something.

Also I thought it might be a decent place to try to get stake for the 180 man turbos on Stars. My roi in the 20/180s is above 50% over like 250-300 games I believe. So maybe I could get something going there to get me started back in MTTs. I don't know how many people reading this would be interested in buying action on either my SNGs or MTTs (esp after me making this run bad post lol) but if you are leave me a message here or PXF and if there is enough interest I'll look into it more.

finally a bad session

I knew my 50% ROI couldn't last but I was hoping it would just slowly come back to normal rather than me hitting a downswing to get it there. 1st set of 12 went well I was up about 5 BIs or so. 2nd set I played 13 cause on hand 1 some guy 3 bets 55 I shove KK he snap calls and I know I'm dead. Flop comes 5xx and I'm out. I cashed 2 of 13 that set both were 3rds. One I had a huge lead on bubble only to get in ahead 3x in a row and lose. I had a guy call 13BBs with KQ on the bubble and my AT was no good. I ran into AA 4 or 5 times. Any time I had A2 v/s A5 and figure we're splitting the board would come with a 3 and 4 and kickers would play. I managed to keep getting in dominated several other times AT v/s AJ, etc. Just a really horrible session. 1st bad session I've had in the 6.50s though.

Next session didn't start well either. lvl 1 I raise AA in LP get called by the BB who has 54 and the flop is 632. I did come back to crack his KK with AK a little later though. I turn a FD and miss and pay off a river bet about 1/3 of my stack. In the SB v/s Btn I run JJ into KK. I lost about 5 races in a row. 5 handed and I'm CL in the SB 2nd stack in the SB he calls 97o and flops 2 pair v/s me. I got a couple of wins but a few bubbles and and its my 2nd losing session in a row but only like 2 BIs.

4th set AQ into AK and JJ. AQ < AQs. 3x in a row I've shoved from the blinds or LP and been dominated. I ran into KK. I shove AQ called by KJ flop Axx. Turn and river K. I lost about 5 races in a row again. I lost AK to K7o on the bubble to cripple me. I then lost KJ to K4s when he flops a flush. I lost A9 to Q6s all in pre HU when he makes a great call with Q hi and flops a FD and turns it on me. I did come back to win 2 so I broke even that session and I think I'm probably done for the night. I may play a late session but I kinda doubt it. This one has been brutal.

back to the 6.50s

OK I decided rather than 4 or 6 table the 16s to 12 table the 6.50s a while longer. I didn't play much of the weekend because of the playoffs and I was applying for a couple jobs. *fingers crossed*

Anyway I put in 2 12 game sets again today. Up 119 in 24 games which is amazing. Best day I've had at them yet. Sample size is still tiny and I need to start playing a lot more I know. Currently 87 games and my ROI is 54% and my ITM rate is 49%. Obv both of those have to come down at some point. I still have a 25% win rate as well which is killer. No way that stays anywhere close to that but its nice so far.

I plan to start playing 5-6 sets a day of 12 games. Then when I get about 1K on Stars start playing hte $12 180 turbo and grind them for a while along with the 6.50s.

moving up to the 16Ts

OK yesterday I had another great day in the 6.50s and ran my Stars roll up to 300. My goal was 320 before I moved to the 16Ts but I went ahead and did a 4 game set today. Didn't go well though. Game 1 5 handed I open shove 12 BBs with AQ and get instacalled by the BB with AJ. Flop Jxx and gg me. Game 2 I have 99 in BB with 9BBs and btn raises I shove he calls A3ss. Flop comes 2 spades, turn Ace, river spade. Game 3 we're 7 handed and it folds to me in the SB and I shove 1200 into a 900 stack at 75/150 with K4 and he insta calls QT and turns his T to cripple me. Game 4 I shove K4o on the bubble and get called by the guy in game 1 and he had AA. I flop a 4 and river a K. :-) HU I started off with a 2.5:1 lead and got him down 5:1. Then ran K9 into A9. But I got 99 v/s 88 and held so I broke even on the 1st set.

2nd set doesn't start off well either. 25/50 I open the btn AJs and maniac short stack with 15BBs shove KQo and flop is JT9. River ace just to spite me. I blinded down a little while then lost 22 to AK turn and river went A, K. Game 2 UTG limps at 75/150 and I shove 900 with 99 and he had KK. Game 3 I had 10BBs with A9s in the SB and the btn who had been super agro shoves 11BBs so I call and he had AQ and I'm out. Game 4 I was in 3rd place on the bubble and shorty sucks out 75o v/s AK to knock me back into 4th. I kept getting walks in my BB often so I sat back since the other players kept playing pots with each other until we got to 200/400 and I started to pick up some hands and spots I could start shoving. Then the 75 v/s AK guys got into it again J6 v/s AK and J6 flopped 2 pair and we were ITM. I tried to make a move 3 handed with Q9 and the guy had KK and I was out 3rd.

I'm probably going to do 1 more set of 4 and if I don't do well I'll move back to the 6.50s and build back up and try the 16Ts again tomorrow. I don't think they are that much tougher just I'm not running that hot today.

writing career goes busto?

OK for those wondering I got bumped from the mag this month and not sure if I'll try again. They offered some small tips on making my writing better but they knew when they asked me that I wasn't a writer or anything. And it looks like I'd have to compete each month to get my stuff in the magazine as well. I kind of thought I was getting a monthly spot and a chance to write for them so I'll have to think about it. I'll decide in a week or so and if I come up with an idea then cool. Or I may try to rewrite the one I already submitted. More than anything just disappointed as I guess I expected too much from them.

Anyway I didn't do any HU again today but I did a couple short sessions at the 6.50s. 24 games +$70. Overall I've played 39 games and my ROI is 36%. Obv tiny sample and that ROI won't hold either. But if I run good and actually put in some volume tomorrow I may be able to take at the 16Ts by Thursday.

SNG bankroll update

OK I didn't get to do much today cause the Lakers and the BoSox were on TV and choked it up in both today. :-( Started the day with 4 games at the 6.50s and broke even. 1 win and 3 OOTM finishes so I went to the 3.40s and did 2 12 tables sets. Finished up $20 and now at 100 games I've got a 28% ROI there. Then I went and did a 8 table set of 6.50s cause I had about 18 BIs there. Mixed results there. Cashed 5 but only 1 win and 1 2nd, 3 3rds kinda sucks but I have over 20 BIs at the 6.50s now so I'll hopefully stay at them.

I plan to try some more HU games tomorrow but idk for sure. I'm really just dreading the thought of playing them and may just try to run this up on stars or just transfer my roll from Tilt to Stars and go to the 16s. Would kind of defeat my bankroll idea though so maybe not. See how tomorrow at the 6.50s goes.

bankroll project

OK I did like 30 games yesterday at the 3.40s and lost 2 BIs. Today I only did a set of 12 and won 3 and took 3 2nds. Should have been even better as I lost 2 bubbles where I was big CL, I lost HU with a 10:1 lead, then the last HU I shove J4s and get instacalled by T3o and he flops a 3.

I've played about 75 games at the 3.40s and my ROI is 30% right now. I have 15 BIs for the 6.5s so I may small a couple of short sets at them and see how I do.

Stars bankroll project

OK not sure how long this will last but I had like $15 in my account on Stars tonight and I've been playing a few SNGs there the last few days at the 3.40s and 6.50s even though I don't have the roll for it on Stars. Anyway I played about 24 SNGs there tonight and built my roll there up to $67. My plan is to move to the 6.50s when I get 20 BIs which is $130. Then if I can run that up to $320 I'll go to the 16s. After that I'll probably try to have like 30-40 BIs before making a move to the 27s.

My play there will be somewhat limited as I'm still going to focus on the HU games. This is just kind of a side project to let me get back into 9 mans and hopefully build a roll there from scratch. If I continue to struggle at HU I may have to withdraw some from Stars but I'm hoping to not pull anything out from Stars and just try to work my way up with an aggressive bankroll and be willing to move up and down in limits as I need to.

I've lost mu mojo?

Thats what I feel like anyway. Started off 3-9 at the 23s and moved down to the 11s. I went 5-1 there though and moved back to the 23s. I went 4-4 when I moved back up. I'm really unsure whats going on. I've developed some leaks, I'm running bad, or I suck at poker. I really don't know whats going on. I'm back where I was a couple weeks ago after running great at the 33s then my game imploding. I really don't have much confidence in my game right now which hurts a lot too. I think I've become too passive and not making enough moves, but also I'm getting into a pattern of raising almost every hand pre and then making a cbet 100% of the time and when I'm not connecting with flops its easy to just sit there and check raise me and I fold my stack off.

I think tomorrow I'm going to move over to the non turbos and give them a try. Probably stay at 1 table for now and just try to put in more hours and focus on my game more than I have been. If I can get to the 50s and 100s and have a 10%+ ROI then I'll look at adding a 2nd table.

changing my strategy

OK well I took yesterday off and I'm going to start back at HU $22s today. I'm going to just 1 table today though and see how it goes. I'm also going to try to get more aggressive with my bankroll and move up whenever I get to 15BIs for the next level. I may make that 20 BIs after I get to the 55s but I'll worry about that when I get there. I don't think I tilted off in my last session but I do think I prob got frustrated and missed some opportunities. So I'm going to take a break any time I lose 3 matches in a row that aren't massive coolers. I'll also probably try to put a stop loss of 5 or 6 BIs a day for now.

Also I'm probably going to start keep playing some micro SNGs at Stars as I heard the Battle of the Planets has really made those games good again but I'm really short at Stars. So I may try to make a small deposit in a few days if I do ok at the HU at Tilt. otherwise I'll try to grind the 3.40s on Stars and build myself back up.

i hate poker

Well I took off several days to go to Atl for a Cinco De Mayo party and that all went well. Decided to start back playing today. Kept hearing that SNGs on Stars are uber soft now but I have like $30 there so I played some $5 9 mans and placed 4th or 5th in like 5 of 8 games and had 2 3rds. I ran like total shit. Which followed me to Tilt. I won 5 of 6 and was up about 80 and was going to stop for the night when I hit $100. I never got there. I only won 6 of the next 18 games and finished down $200. I don't know how it happened other than I missed every hand I played and they seemed to keep calling me down with btm pair and weak draws and catching what they needed. The hand below sums up my session. I need to do some coaching but I had cashed out 1/2 my roll to pay some bills and now I dropped 1/3 of my roll tonight so I've got to delay getting coached again. Maybe tomorrow I can run good and try to get most of my losses back.
